Kate Hopgood

Kate Hopgood is a Michigan-based sound designer and composer. Her Broadway premiere of Birthday Candles (written by Noah Haidle, directed by Vivienne Benesch, starring Debra Messing) opened in April 2022 at the American Airlines Theatre. She also designed and composed original music for the world premiere at Detroit Public Theatre. Other recent work includes The Beauty Queen of Leenanne by Martin McDonnagh, directed by Andrew Borba. Her designs and original music have also been heard at Goodman Theatre's 2018 New Stages Festival, the Michigan Shakespeare Festival, Chicago's Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, Lifeline Theatre, and Babes with Blades Theatre Company. Kate's sound designs are featured in QLab 4: Projects in Video, Audio, and Lighting Control published by Focal Press.
