Job Opportunity: Office Manager for the Williamston Theatre

The Williamston Theatre is mid-Michigan’s award-winning regional theatre company, whose mission is to offer a diverse array of intimate storytelling experiences to entertain, build a sense of belonging, and foster empathy for the human journey.

The Williamston Theatre is seeking a part-time Office Manager to oversee the daily operations of the Administration Office, manage basic bookkeeping, provide support for the Administrative and Box Office Staff and work closely with the Managing Director, Executive Director and other staff as needed.  The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a willingness to ensure high-quality work. Nonprofit experience is desired.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, Zoom, and QuickBooks
  • Excellent mathematical, verbal and written communications skills
    • Minimum of one year’s experience in office management or administrative assistance with experience in finance-related work
  • A passion for supporting the arts through arts management
  • Desire to play a critical role on a small and dynamic team
  • Self-motivated and a team-player
  • Highly organized and detail oriented

Experience

  • Working in databases
  • Creating mass emails
  • Familiarity with the bulk mailing system
  • Experience with Google analytics
  • Experience setting up and maintaining Facebook advertising campaigns
  • Experience with website maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of filing and maintenance of record keeping

Hours: Tuesday – Friday, 12pm-6pm. This is a part time position. Hours are firm.
Salary:  $375/week

Auditions

WILLIAMSTON THEATRE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR 15th SEASON.

Williamston theatre is seeking actors of all races and ethnicities for their upcoming season.
We will be accepting video auditions only this season, due to Covid concerns. Auditions are for AEA AND Non-Union actors.

Auditions should consist of two contrasting, contemporary monologues, with a total time of no more than 5 minutes for the entire video. Emails with links to auditions can be sent to tony@williamstontheatre.org and will be accepted until 5pm September 25, 2021.

Stanley: A Man Who Doesn’t See What’s Coming; Former best friend of Jerry, 70.
Marsha: A Woman With Suspicions; Stanley’s new wife, 60’s.

In reference to character descriptions:  We will list race/ethnicity when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking all races and ethnicities, and encourage actors of all types to audition. Additionally, most characters we encounter currently are on the binary and are written with he/him or she/her pronouns and you will see that in the descriptions. However, our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with. Also, we will list disability when specific to a character, but are otherwise seeking actors with disabilities as well as non-disabled actors for all roles.

Williamston Theatre Apprenticeship Program 2021-2022

The Williamston Theatre is seeking applicants for its Apprenticeship Program. The position begins January 2022 and runs through December 2022. This program is designed for a highly motivated and hard-working individual who is interested in launching their career in the theatre industry. The Apprenticeship Position seeks to provide a bridge between the classroom and the professional realm.

Through the course of the program, the apprentice will gain hands-on experience by fulfilling a variety of roles and duties, including production assistant to the stage manager, box office staff, house manager,  general building cleaning and maintenance, scenery and prop construction, assistant to designers, support staff for the managing director executive director and artistic director.

The Williamston Theatre works with professionals in a myriad of fields, both from the Michigan theatre community and abroad and thus provides the apprentice with invaluable contacts, as well as professional resume credits. The position pays $350 per week, and does not include housing.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Good written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Backstage/Tech experience (including scenic construction, lighting, costume maintenance)
  • An eagerness to learn
  • The dedication to work closely with the small group of tight-knit Williamston Theatre staff
  • A patron-focused attitude
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • An interest in Arts Management, Production/Design, Stage Management or Technical Direction
