Work being done on the Williamston Theatre building! The Williamston Theatre has received grants from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the Capital Region Community Foundation for capital improvement projects scheduled this winter and spring. The first, and largest, job is re-roofing the rear portion of the building. This will eliminate the need for buckets throughout the back lobby to catch all the water that leaks every time it rains! Once this project is complete, work will begin to insulate the scene shop and create storage space for lumber and tools. The final part of our capital improvement project will be to purchase new sound equipment to enhance our production quality and capabilities. Many thanks to all the individuals and businesses who have supported capital improvement efforts to continue to build the Williamston Theatre! Jim Posante, 1948-2008 The Michigan theater community lost one of its best and brightest on Sunday with the sudden death of Jim Posante, director, teacher and choreographer. The founders of the Williamston Theatre have known and worked with Jim through the years. As the theater family gathers together to grieve, we also celebrate as Jim would have wanted us to. We celebrate the memories and the gifts that he gave us, and the legacy that he left. His spirit lives on in the hearts of us all. A memorial wall has been posted in Jim's honor at www.jimposante.org. Godspeed, Jim. She said, "YES!" There's never a dull moment here at the Williamston Theatre. On December 22, our audience for the 8pm show of EVERY CHRISTMAS STORY EVER TOLD got an extra treat. At the conclusion of the bows, actor Aral Gribble quieted the audience, introduced them to his lovely girlfriend Lynn Lammers (director of the WT's production of FLAP) and asked her to join him on stage. A surprised Lynn climbed over our accommodating patrons (yes, she was seated all the way in the back corner) and when she arrived on stage, Aral fell to bended knee, presented her with a ring and asked her to marry him. The audience cheered when she said "yes!" Many congratulations to this talented young couple! WT ON THE WEB Want to be friends? The Williamston Theatre now has a myspace site!
